A Visit to Guitar Island: A Hidden Gem of Andaman
Guitar Island in Long Island is one of the lesser-known yet stunning offbeat destinations in the Andaman Islands. The island gets its name from its aerial shape—resembling a guitar. This unique resemblance is enhanced during low tide when it connects to the nearby Small Guitar Island via a sandbar. While photoshopped images exaggerate the “guitar with a hole” myth, the actual charm lies in its natural layout: the larger Guitar Island forms the body, the smaller one forms the headstock, and the connecting sandbar resembles the fretboard.

Even though deserted, Guitar Island near Rangat captivates with its rich vegetation, clear turquoise waters, and a sense of serenity that appeals to nature lovers. Often hailed as one of the best beaches in the Andaman Islands, its peaceful stretch of white sand offers the perfect backdrop for relaxation and reflection.

Tucked away amidst the lush landscape of the Andaman Islands, Guitar Island is a true hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, exploration, or memorable experiences, this offbeat island promises it all. Located around 40 km northeast of Port Blair (near Sri Vijaya Puram), Guitar Island offers a tranquil retreat with its postcard-perfect scenery—white sand beaches, swaying palms, and calm, blue seas.

Best Time to Visit Guitar Island:
The ideal time to visit is during the dry season, from November to April. These months offer clear skies, calm seas, and warm temperatures—perfect for beach activities and sightseeing. Snorkeling, sea walking, and boat rides are especially enjoyable during this time due to excellent underwater visibility and gentle tides.

It’s advisable to avoid the monsoon season (June to September), as heavy rains can disrupt travel plans and make sea journeys risky. During the peak season, accommodations and transport options may fill up quickly, so it’s wise to book your trip well in advance to avoid last-minute hassles.
